Disposable vapes are designed to be simple, convenient, and maintenance‑free — but they still rely on the same core technology as refillable devices. Inside every disposable is a coil, battery, and a sealed tank of e‑liquid. Understanding how these parts work (and what causes them to fail) helps you avoid most common issues and get the best performance out of every device.
Even though you can’t open or refill them, disposables operate on the same basic principles:
The battery sends power to the coil
The coil heats up
The cotton wick absorbs pre‑filled e‑liquid in the internal tank
Heat + saturation = vapor
If either heat or saturation is off balance, you get weak hits, burnt taste, or no vapor at all.
Knowing this simple relationship makes troubleshooting much easier.
Most disposables come pre‑saturated. Pre-saturated disposable vapes are easy to tell apart because they won't have a separate tank to assemble when new.
For pre-saturated disposables, you can use them right away.
For disposables that need assembly, it is highly recommended that you:
This helps the coil heat evenly and prevents early burning.
Even though you can’t refill a disposable, the same rule applies: If the wick dries out, the coil burns.
This usually happens when:
You chain‑vape too quickly
The device is nearly empty
The coil overheats from long pulls
To avoid this:
Take shorter, slower puffs
Give the device a few seconds between hits
Stop using it and let it rest if you notice the flavour drops off — that’s the wick drying out
Once a disposable coil burns, it cannot be fixed.
Why is my disposable vape leaking?
There is no such thing as a leak‑proof disposable. Inside every device are rubber seals that expand and contract with heat. Over time, these seals loosen, causing:
Small internal leaks
Condensation buildup
E‑liquid pooling near the mouthpiece or airflow holes
This is normal for disposables, especially near the end of their lifespan.
If the leak is excessive right out of the box, the unit is defective and should be exchanged.
Why does my vape taste burnt?
A burnt taste means the coil inside is burnt out.
Either the coil was not properly saturated before using the device, or the coil was damaged from chain-vaping. In some rare cases, the device could have a burnt out coil out of the box, due to malfunction. We always recommend trying out the disposable vape in-store so you can check for this issue beforehand.
How long should a disposable vape last?
It depends on:
Puff length
Puff frequency
E‑liquid capacity
Disposables come in a range of puff counts, from 500 puffs all the way to 40,000 puffs or higher. A 500 puff vape typically lasts 1-2 days while a 40,000 puff vape will typically last 2-3 weeks. The advertised puff counts are approximations, and are not guaranteed.
If you take long pulls or chain‑vape, it will burn out much faster than the advertised puff count. If the device has a boost mode or some way to turn the wattage higher, using it at the higher wattage will consume the e-liquid faster and tends to burn out the coil quicker as well.
Why is my vape hitting too weak?
If you feel your disposable is hitting weaker than normal, it could be due to several reasons. If the battery is low, it will give off weaker hits. If the device is nearing the end of its life, it will give off weaker, dry hits. If the battery is cold, it could cause it to deliver less power and give off weaker hits.
